If you’ve never done a boudoir session before then you likely have questions. There’s some things you might not know about this entire experience, and that’s completely normal. And even if you’ve already done a boudoir session with another photographer, all of us do things a little differently.
Things like how long will the session last, do I have to know how to pose, what happens if I need to reschedule? You might be wondering all of these things and more.
So today I’m going to share with you 5 things to know when you do a boudoir session with me at Photography by Amber Carl.
Something many people worry about is knowing how to pose and what poses to do. The nice thing with me is that I have a posing flow that I put the women I photograph through and I adjust it here and there for every body. You’ll never come to my studio and wonder, “what pose should I do next?” or “what should I do with my hands?” I pose you from the top of your head to your toes and demonstrate each pose as well so you won’t be confused or feel weird in position.
I mean we all like surprises right? But not that kind. I wouldn’t want to see myself pop up online if I didn’t give consent for that. So I send over a questionnaire ahead of time asking you where you are ok with your images being shared. In my private Facebook group, on my public social media, on my blog/website, a headshot only on my stylist’s social media to showcase her work, all of the above, or nowhere at all. And the thing is, you can choose nowhere at all and that’s completely fine. This is your boudoir session and these photos may only be for you and/or your partner’s eyes only.
Please be sure to arrive on time. If you have added on professional hair and makeup with my stylist then she will be ready to start at your appointment time. We typically have one or two sessions before or after yours as well so keeping everything in a good flow works best for everyone. Plus if you’re at my Grays Harbor Studio then your session will be timed with the best opportunity for natural light coming through those gorgeous windows. And I wouldn’t want you to miss that.
Typically your session itself will be about an hour depending upon which package you select. We spend about 20 minutes on each outfit as we move through the studio and pose in all of the different sets. So 3 outfits is usually the perfect amount to bring.
A boudoir session is a new experience for most people so trust is everything. You want to be sure that you trust your boudoir photographer from the moment you book your session to the moment you receive your final photos. Letting go and trusting the process is so important to having an incredible boudoir session experience with me.
Thankfully one of the biggest compliments I have received from many past clients is how comfortable I made them feel. Walking into a boudoir session for the first time can be completely nerve wracking. But just know that after a few minutes you’ll feel like we have known each other for years and those nerves just start to melt away.
Are you ready to schedule that boudoir session for you?
