To some the idea of boosting your body confidence by getting nearly naked for a boudoir session can be just that, an idea.

And if you’re someone who has always struggled with body confidence or just confidence in general then the thought of a boudoir session can be downright scary.

So what’s the point and what’s all the hype?

Body Confidence

What’s The Big Deal About A Boudoir Session?

A boudoir session can be absolutely empowering. It’s an opportunity for you to open your eyes to your true self. Women who I photograph often see themselves in a mirror and cringe and that negative self talk starts to rear it’s ugly head. But when they see themselves in boudoir photos that negative self talk is nowhere to be heard. They begin to see themselves the way that those who love them see them and they start to embrace their body just the way it is in it’s true, beautiful form.

A boudoir session is such an intimate experience so you’ll want to be absolutely sure you will be comfortable with the photographer you choose. Check out their reviews and see if it’s a constant theme that people they have photographed have felt comfortable. Are they active on social media or have they seemed to drop off the face of the earth? Maybe even see about setting up a phone or email consultation with them to ask any questions you may have.

What Happens During A Boudoir Session?

Body Confidence

Your boudoir session itself will then typically begin with professional hair and makeup. With my studio we give you the option to add those services on or arrive to your session ready to go. Professional hair and makeup with my signature stylist is such an amazing thing to add on. Not only will she get you ready for your session but she’ll get you READY for your session. The hour or so that you sit in her chair talking and laughing will really help to set your mind at ease and prepare you for your boudoir session. In a way it helps put you in the zone and calm any nerves you may be feeling.

Throughout your entire session I’ll guide you through how to pose and what to do. You’ll never wonder where your hands should go or what pose you should do next. The music plays, I guide you through poses, we talk and laugh and soon all of your nerves and any other stresses will melt away and you’ll give yourself the opportunity to reconnect with your body. Start to feel that body confidence flow through you. I’ll show you images on the back of my camera as we go and you’ll says “WOW! Is that really me?!” And you won’t say it in a way that means oh I don’t look like myself! You’ll say it in a way as to proclaim that you know that beautiful, confident, amazing woman has always been there. You just haven’t seen her in a while.

How A Boudoir Session Can Promote Body Confidence And Self Love

Throughout your session you will be up close and personal with your body. You will be giving yourself the opportunity to really reconnect with it and remember all of the amazing things it has done for you and brought you through.

Boudoir places YOU as the decider of your own self image. Not society, not your friends, and not the inner critic in your head. It’s all about embracing body confidence and your own form of sexy whatever that may be. With boudoir we are celebrating you, who you are as a woman, and who you’ll continue to be after you leave the studio.

And the cool thing about when you finally allow yourself to embrace YOUR beauty RIGHT NOW is that ripple effect. Not only will this self love and body confidence linger on in your own life, but you’ll pass it onto other women too. You’ll start to accept and embrace those things you considered flaws and you’ll show other women that it’s ok to accept who they are too. And that’s beautiful.

boudoir photography washington state

Born and raised in Washington State, I know the Pacific Northwest like the back of my hand. As a luxury boudoir photographer, my mission is simple: to reach as many women as I can and show them just how incredible they already are. This experience is about so much more than beautiful photos - it's a chance to see yourself through the eyes of those who love you, and to truly reconnect with the woman you are.
Since founding Boudoir Photography by Amber Carl in 2020, I've had the privilege of photographing countless women and couples, each experience as unique as the person in front of the lens. The greatest compliment I receive is how comfortable my clients feel with me. This is an intimate journey, and my goal is to create a safe, welcoming space where you can let your true self shine.
Take a look at my work and reach out - I'd love to help you experience the confidence and self love you deserve.
